Take an easy hike to Wind Cave Trail

Looking for a less challenging hike? Head on over to the Wind Cave Trail in Usery Mountain Regional Park. The Wind Cave Trail at the Usery Mountain Regional Park is a 1.6-mile hike that takes visitors past several unique rock formations and into a cavern carved out by the desert winds and sand. The route offers views of the surrounding region, making it great for outdoor activities and trails to take if you’re looking to enjoy both the mountain scenery in Mesa and some exercise at the same time.

Take a difficult hike at Usery Mountain Regional Park

Usery Mountain is a great place to go hiking. There are 29 trails — ranging from 0.2 miles to over 7 miles — that will take you through the desert and offer beautiful views. If you don’t like climbing, then avoid hiking the Vista Trail. It’s a rugged uphill climb in the beginning but it has amazing views once you’re at the top.

Usery Mountain is also home to the saguaro cactus, which blooms around April to June. The flowers on a saguaro cactus are delicate, but they grow out of the most rugged and massive cacti you’ll ever see in your life. Just don’t walk into the jumping cholla cacti, or these flowers can stick to your clothes or skin.

Enjoy Saguaro Lake on a cruise

If you don’t have time for the entire hike, you can always relax by Saguaro Lake. Since 1964, Desert Belle Cruises has provided narrated tours on the lake, taking passengers on a 90-minute tour that circles the lake. There will be wildlife, such as eagles and hawks, as well as mountain lions and coyotes.

Furthermore, because this is a boat tour, you will be able to see Arizona’s beautiful scenery from a different perspective. The boat can accommodate 143 passengers but is divided into two levels: an upper deck with covered seating and a lower level with an air-conditioned snack bar.
